Munk Christmas Update Notes

It is that time of year again, Adventurers! Emberveil returns with twinkling lights, warm hearths, mischievous Goblin Grinches, and Father Beard wandering the world with gifts in tow. As Ravencrest once again dresses in festive spirit, whether you are celebrating the season for the first time or picking up where you left off last year, be prepared for plenty of cheer, surprises and rewards!

Additionally, the Munks will be officially opening the much anticipated Winter Carnival (December 17th)! But this time, with the addition of three new games added to the Carnival: Pummeldillo Boxing and Two Dice Games!

$QUEST Staking arrives this week to the $QUEST Ecosystem.

Over the last few months, during a brutal market where 99.9% of projects are shutting down, slowing development, or pulling funds, our goal became crystal clear. We needed to build a sustainable ecosystem that could not only survive, but thrive during a difficult market.

We established three clear steps for the $QUEST Ecosystem.

  • Sustainability ー So our community doesn't have to worry about us closing our doors like many others are currently.
  • Buyback & Burns ー To actively strengthen the $QUEST token and consistently reducing the supply of $QUEST weekly and increasing it's short and long-term scarcity.
  • Utility ー Then multiplying the impact of that increased scarcity by introducing even more significant utility to the $QUEST token.

Remember, scarcity is rarely noticed until a tipping point is hit. With how much $QUEST is out of circulating supply from Buyback & Burns, and $QUEST spent in-game, we are very close to that tipping point.

Now, we activate step 3: skyrocketing $QUEST utility.

This comes in two forms this week: the $QUEST-exclusive Reforging System (more shared later in the patch notes on this), and the introduction of $QUEST Staking Rewards.

A Better, Safer Staking Model

We took our time designing this system because we didn't feel the current staking models in Web3 were the right approach. Instead of taking cash directly into our own hands, we negotiated $100,000 USD of $IMX tokens for our Adventurers and the $QUEST Ecosystem believers. We believe action > words. This is another action we are taking to put the $QUEST Ecosystem and our Adventurers before ourselves.

Here's how we designed it to be lower-risk for you, the Adventurer:

  • No Forced Lockups ー You will NOT have to commit to a long, fixed staking duration to enjoy the benefits of long-term staking. There is simply a 7-day withdrawal delay when you choose to unstake, but you can unstake $QUEST at anytime.
  • Milestone-Based Bonuses ー Instead of having to lockup $QUEST for 30/60/120 days to get a bonus to your staking, you unlock increased weight bonuses on your staked $QUEST simply by hitting milestones for how long your staked $QUEST has been active.
  • External Rewards ー The upcoming Season Reward Pools are in $IMX, not $QUEST. This ensures we are not inflating the token supply to pay out rewards.
  • Dynamic & Seasonal Pools ー The APR is dynamic, based on the amount of staked $QUEST in the pool. With the incredibly low circulating supply of $QUEST, this first pool has a lot of rewards to go around. The first season will be 60 days long with 30,000 $IMX in the pool. Your staking position and with that, your Milestone Bonuses, will be able to be rolled into future seasons, ensuring you don't lose your Staking Milestones!

Continuing to Compound on Sustainability First

In a bear market, you can do everything right and still go down. In a bull market, you can do everything wrong and still go up. Seeing our current sustainable and expanding position in this deep bear market has us incredibly bullish on where we can go with even the slightest market turn, let alone bull run.

We continue to set the foundation, reduce the supply of $QUEST increasing it's scarcity, and now, we bring real, tangible rewards to those who believe in the $QUEST Ecosystem. Also, yes, you can obtain $QUEST on-chain via QuickSwap or Uniswap to add to the staking pool and claim a larger share of these rewards.

Expanding Support for In-Game $QUEST Auto-Staking

Adding support for auto-staking of $QUEST you hold in-game is no small task. We wanted to get staking live as soon as possible to get $IMX rewards into our Adventurers hands that hold $QUEST. Please know that we are already working on how to make in-game $QUEST count towards your stake. We can't give an ETA yet, as the team needs a well-deserved rest over Christmas after pushing around the clock on the Munk Carnival Expansion and now this significant Winter Update just a few weeks later.

But we see $QUEST held in-game as the same as website-side. After Christmas, we will be working hard to get in-game $QUEST automatically staked in future pools. Until then, if you want to enjoy these extra $IMX rewards for your $QUEST in the first Season Pool, you need to withdraw your in-game $QUEST to the website. Remember, any $QUEST withdrawn for staking, if you then choose to deposit any back, you receive credit to withdraw with no fee.

We will have a full announcement in the next few days when $QUEST Staking goes live.

We are hitting the pillars we set out to achieve. We took a leap of faith with a different formula in a market where everyone else was failing, and it's working. We will continue to build sustainably, reduce the supply, get rewards into your hands, and prepare for an explosive future. Strap in, Adventurers. We are excited to have you along for the journey!

At the heart of Emberveil is the tradition of exchanging Emberveil Gifts with fellow Adventurers. Trade gifts with another player and both of you will receive Merry Emberveil Gifts in return, which offer improved rewards!

How to obtain Emberveil Gifts?

  • Completing Adventurer's Board tasks.
  • Dropped from hunting creatures, same as Supplybags.
  • Completing any of the 6 Goblin Grinch seasonal events.

How to obtain Merry Emberveil Gifts?

  • Exchange Emberveil Gifts with another player. This can be done by right-clicking on another player and “Exchange Gift”.
  • Visiting Father Beard once per day will reward Merry Emberveil Gifts after the Story Quest, A Merry Quest is completed.
  • Can be obtained while participating in Goblin Grinch events, at a low chance.

These gifts can be opened for Father Beard Tokens and seasonal items that are sold for silver. Every gift exchange must be of an equal number of gifts so both players must trade the same amount.

Father Beard Tokens earned can be brought to the Merry Munk in Ravencrest's seasonal hub and exchanged for a selection of seasonal prizes: festive house cosmetics like Emberveil Chimes, Sir Frostalot the chill knight, and even your own personal Merry Munk Helper to cheer up your house! Additionally, you will be able to purchase Father Beard's famed Emberveil Cookies, which boost your earned experience by 40% for your next 200,000 EXP acquired. Those cookies are sure to be a treat!

To celebrate your participation in this year’s festivities, we have also prepared a set of new Player Titles in addition to recurring ones.

The following Titles are recurring, so players who have unlocked them in previous seasons can’t obtain them again:

  • Merry Helper ー Complete the Story Quest “A Merry Quest”:
  • Cookie Monster ー Eat 10 Emberveil Cookies
  • Scrooge ー Open 50 Emberveil Gifts.
  • Gifted ー Open 50 Merry Emberveil Gifts.

The following Titles are new and unique rewards for this year’s Emberveil:

  • I’ve Been Nice ー Earn 10000 Father Beard Tokens.
  • Jingle All The Way ー Log in for at least 5 days during the event.

Keep your gifts close, for a band of nasty, mischievous Goblin Grinches is loose! These Goblin Grinches bring their own flavor of seasonal chaos, raiding and pillaging to steal gifts everywhere. Goblin Grinch dynamic events are spread in different regions and level ranges, so help Father Beard keep up his jolly work by joining forces with other adventurers, and earn a few extra gifts along the way.

Last, but not least, the Winter Munk Carnival Update introduces new Christmas Cosmetics to the game, including Moas, Wagons and Ships cosmetics ー all available in the Fortune Wheel!

If you are already in the holiday mood, make sure to visit Merry Munk and he will point you toward all Emberveil activities. Keep that festive spirit up, adventurers, and have a merry Emberveil!

Straight from the scorching corner of Hadarak Desert comes a fierce contestant, ready to dethrone Moa Racing as the carnival patrons’ favorite attraction. Pummeldillo Boxing is the new action-packed thrill that will be the talk of the fairground for days.

Stake your Carnival Chips or Lucky Chips on fast-paced Pummeldillo Boxing matches, featuring a complete roster of brawlers, each one with a unique fighting style and a star rating reflecting their potential as a fighter, with lower rated contestants offering better payouts. Every few minutes a new match will take place, two contestants enter the ring and brawl it out until a winner emerges victorious!

Seek out the famous Pummelglove coach Rocco Shellboa, who feels right at home next to the ring on the ground floor of the Carnival’s main building. He will gladly get you started on the details of this Pummeldillo league, where every brawler wants a place among the legendary Pummelglove Champions.

Not in the mood for a friendly Pummeldillo brawl? Then step right up the nearby stairs and roll some bones at the Carnival's brand new Dice Games! Whether you trust destiny, probability or pure Munk luck, these fast and flashy tables offer quick thrills and crisp rewards. Two games await: Hilo's High-Low and Dubs' Seeing Doubles, each rolling their own way in the Carnival's growing lineup.

At Hilo's High-Low table, you predict how a single enchanted die will land. Choose High or Low, Odd or Even, or make a daring move by naming a specific number. One prediction, one roll, and thrilling suspense as Hilo's magic die spins and tumbles before revealing fortune's call. That is, if you can hear it over Hilo's excited yelling.

Hilo's table might be too loud and chaotic? If you prefer a bit of symmetry in your rolls, Dubs' Seeing Doubles might be your place. Roll two dice and have them settle as a perfect pair. Any matching numbers count as a win, with higher doubles bringing even greater rewards. Simple, swift, and harmoniously compelling, as Dubs would say.

Play both games with Carnival Chips or Lucky Chips by talking with either Munk Roller Hilo or Munk Roller Dubs, depending on your game of choice, and let's roll!

You may notice that the Dice Game UI intentionally remains on your screen after you click the roll button. We designed the UI to be lean, to allow you to move the Dice Game's UI to the side of your screen and play continuously without the hassle of reopening the window for every roll.

This festive season, 10 brand-new Christmas-themed Pets are joining the world, each bursting with winter charm, mischief, and magic, including two dazzling new Shiny Pets for the luckiest adventurers of all.

Among this frosty lineup are the radiant Shiny Frostflare and Shiny Glacie, alongside their companions Frostflare, Glacie, Blizzy, Tinkerton, Glimmer, Bellibear, Krample, Snowbert, Toffee Tom, and Hazel. Whether playful, cozy, or a little mischievous, these festive friends are ready to follow you into every snowy adventure!

As always, Pets aren’t just about looks. They come packed with Pet Perks to boost your journey, and high-rarity companions can assist with Gemstone Transmutation, helping turn Gemstones into $QUEST. The rarer the Pet, the stronger their bonuses, and the faster they recharge their Transmutation Energy.

Don’t miss your chance to welcome a winter companion into your adventures: head over to the Munk Carnival and spin the Fortune Wheel. The snow is falling, and these Pets won’t be around forever! 🎁✨

You asked for more $QUEST utility ー and we are bringing it in a big way!

We are incredibly excited to introduce Equipment Reforging, a new endgame system designed to give you more control over perfecting your gear. Reforging exclusively uses the $QUEST token, bringing a new massive amount of late-game utility to $QUEST.

Reforging is accessed through the Reforge tab within the Infusion UI. Only Combat Gear can be reforged.

Here's everything you need to know:

  • When reforging, Adventurers are able to select a single stat to reroll. The new stat rolled will always be different from the current stat you are rerolling, and will not duplicate another stat already present on the item. This ensures that Primary and Secondary stats on a piece of gear are always unique. It is also important to note that reforging has a cost for each individual stat, not for the entire item. This means that near-perfect or perfect crafted gear by Master Crafters in RavenQuest will provide a significant saving for Adventurers obtaining gear, as it will require significantly less reforging, or none at all. The pursuit of the perfect craft remains as valuable as ever. We may also be bringing in an additional equipment sink in the future to reforging as well.
  • Stat types are always preserved, so rerolling a primary stat will always result in another primary stat, and rerolling a secondary stat will always result in another secondary stat
  • Tier 7 and Tier 8 (announced below) gear follows a special rule. These items feature a duplicated (doubled) stat, which is treated as a single stat for reforging purposes. Selecting one of the duplicated lines will automatically select both, causing them to reroll together at double the usual cost.
  • The $QUEST amount to reforge is based on the Equipment type. Armor having a base reforging cost, with One-Handed Weapons being double, and Two-Handed Weapons being double One-Handed Weapons.
  • The Reforge UI displays only eligible Primary and Secondary stats. Stats granted by Quality Crystals are excluded from the interface and cannot be reforged.

With the implementation of the Reforging System, we are also introducing a brand-new equipment tier: Tier 8, giving players the opportunity to reach even greater levels of power. In addition to all stat slots available in the previous tier, Tier 8 gear now features:

  • 3 Primary Attributes
  • 16 Quality Crystal Slots

Tier 8 items are crafted using Radiant Catalysts, a new material obtained from Legendary Expeditions. Due to their immense power, these items can only be equipped by Adventurers with Legacy Level 80 or higher.

With the introduction of Tier 8, Adventurers may not be able to reach max Quality Crystals on this new tier of gear right away. This is a new tier of crafting progression, you may need to boost your crafting ability further to reach the pinnacle of T8 crafting.

With this update, we are also increasing the Effective Level soft cap from 85 to 90.

We know for some players, this might feel early. However, as an MMORPG, continued progression is core to RavenQuest's identity. With the introduction of new Tier 8 gear and an increasing number of Adventurers hitting cap day by day, we want to ensure there is always a path forward for the most dedicated adventurers.

Remember, MMORPGs are not a race to a finish line. If you are not Effective Level 85 yet, it's okay. Play RavenQuest the way that you enjoy the most, whether that's hardcore pushing to the new level 90 cap or enjoying the journey at your own pace. First and foremost, games are about enjoying the journey.

Following community feedback, we are introducing two major improvements to the Aether Monoliths System: new activation time windows and the addition of Greater and Lesser Aether Monoliths. These changes aim to create more variety in Monolith availability while preserving the core gameplay experience players are familiar with.

Monolith Activation Time Windows

Aether Monoliths will no longer activate automatically during every time window. Instead, each window now has a chance to trigger a Monolith within the WarZone, adding an element of unpredictability to their appearance.

The activation chances vary by time window, but they go from 30 to 60%.

Greater and Lesser Aether Monoliths

Aether Monoliths now come in two distinct versions: the Greater Aether Monolith (previously the standard Aether Monolith) and the newly introduced Lesser Aether Monolith.

During each active time window, two WarZones will now be available, one containing a Greater Aether Monolith and the other containing a Lesser Aether Monolith. Aside from the rewards, both versions function identically and use the same assets, ensuring a familiar experience regardless of the Monolith encountered.

The key difference lies in the Fame rewards. Greater Aether Monoliths grant 2,000 Fame, while Lesser Aether Monoliths award 1,400 Fame, equivalent to 70% of the Greater version. All existing reward distribution rules remain unchanged.

To support the dual-Monolith system, several interface and messaging updates have been implemented. Monolith map icons now use distinct colors to clearly differentiate between types, with purple icons representing Greater Aether Monoliths and blue icons representing Lesser Aether Monoliths.

Additionally, new tooltips have been added to clearly label each Monolith type, and the WarZone details interface has been adjusted so hovering over a zone explicitly indicates whether the upcoming Monolith will be Greater or Lesser.

For the final update of the year, we have added five new creature respawns, along with several improvements and expansions to existing areas across the world:

  • Beneath Kabbar Palace, a newly discovered cave complex has become home to Chewacabras ranging from Levels 36 to 39, while a new, more powerful creature lurks beneath the sands.
  • As Tiger Bugs continue to carve out new lairs to lay their eggs, they have spread deeper into the Buried Nest, which now hosts insects between Levels 35 and 39. Their expansion doesn’t stop there — farther east in the Hadarak Desert, another colony of Tiger Bugs, ranging from Levels 60 to 63, has established itself beneath the sands of the Mirage Peaks.
  • New clues surrounding the curse of the Stonecrush Ruins have also come to light. A collapsed wall revealed a hidden underground chamber, uncovering the entrance to an ancient tomb now inhabited by Chainwraiths between Levels 62 and 64.
  • The exploration of Ostera’s secrets continues. Deep within the dangers of Endswood, a small, cobweb-covered grove has opened a passage into a vast cave system populated by Forest Spiders and Cave Spiders, ranging from Levels 78 to 83.
  • The Spider's Den beneath Rohna Woods has been fully revamped, featuring larger cave layouts, new rotations, and a higher concentration of monsters.
  • Finally, the density of Black Bears roaming the surface of Endswood has been slightly increased.

Consumables

Added two new Milk Tea–type items, now interacting with Profession Levels, available at the same vendor as Milk Tea (Bartender):

  • Caramel Coffee ー Provides a 50% Crafting Profession experience bonus for the next 20,000 EXP earned. Can be stacked up to 1,000,000 EXP.
  • Black Coffee ー Provides a 100% Open World Gathering experience bonus for the next 20,000 EXP earned. Can be stacked up to 1,000,000 EXP.

Guild Shop

Adjusted pricing for several Guild Buffs (per member):

  • Reduced Creature Experience Gain buff cost from 500,000 → 250,000 Silver.
  • Reduced Drop Rate from Creatures buff cost from 250,000 → 125,000 Silver.
  • Reduced Crafting Experience Gain buff cost from 500,000 → 250,000 Silver.
  • Reduced Gathering Experience Gain buff cost from 500,000 → 250,000 Silver.
  • Luck inside Expeditions remains unchanged.

Munk Carnival

  • Added a new element to Moa Racing UI: Top Stakes. This display shows the highest stakes placed in each race (separated by currency), including the name of the player who placed the stake and the Moa that received it. If multiple players have the same stake amount, the earliest one is prioritized. The same rule applies to Moas.
  • Updated the Stake input field, as it no longer auto-fills with the minimum value (1,000). It now appears empty when opened and requires the player to manually enter their desired amount. The UI will also remember and retain the last value the player entered unless changed manually.

Miscellaneous

  • Added the item Perfect Bloodstone to the Creature Loot Vendor.
  • Updated the Chewacabra creature with design improvements and added a new creature to the same family: Chewacow.
  • Updated the Arena tooltip to clarify that Fame is awarded exclusively to winners. Players who lose an Arena round are no longer receiving Fame.
  • The Lucky Raffle System now support multiple currencies, meaning that different Raffles will be [...] in different currencies (including $QUEST).
  • During the Quest "The Reliant Shipwright", the spider egg assets used in task #10 received a visual update. Additionally, several spider egg positions were modified within the spawn area.
